ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals, describing their security as the government’s highest priority while pledging to provide the strongest possible protection across the country.
Speaking at the Pakistan-China Pharmaceutical and Healthcare B2B Investment Conference in Islamabad, the prime minister said Pakistan deeply values its longstanding partnership with China and remains fully committed to safeguarding Chinese citizens working on various development and investment projects.
“I would like to say with the fullest force at my command that the security of our Chinese brothers and sisters in Pakistan is paramount for us. We will leave no stone unturned to provide them with the best possible security,” Mr Sharif said.
During the conference, Pakistani and Chinese companies signed several agreements in the fields of healthcare, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals. According to the prime minister, the combined value of the investment agreements is nearly $414 million, reflecting growing economic cooperation between the two countries.
The prime minister’s remarks came just days after Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry announced that security measures had been further strengthened around the Saindak copper and gold mine in Balochistan following attempts by terrorists to disrupt supply routes in the region.
The developments also come amid Operation Shaban, an ongoing high-intensity counterterrorism campaign launched by Pakistan’s security forces in Balochistan after a series of deadly terrorist attacks. Authorities say the operation aims to improve security, protect strategic infrastructure, and ensure the safety of both local residents and foreign nationals working on development projects.
Pakistan and China maintain a close strategic partnership, with Chinese investment playing a key role in infrastructure, energy, healthcare, and industrial development across the country. The government has repeatedly pledged to provide a secure environment for all foreign investors and workers.
